Check out our FAQs to learn more about our charters, payments, guests and other common questions we get. Did we miss something? Give us a call and we’d be happy to help!
Do your boats have bathrooms/restrooms?
No, we do not. As we leave the docks there are restrooms at the marina but none on the boats.
What do I need to bring on the boat?
Something to eat, drink (enough for your whole group), lotion sunscreen (non-spray as it damages the finish of the boat) , appropriate clothing (layers work best) and a small cooler to keep everything cold. We have all rods, reels, bait, tackle, licenses and other fishing-related gear on the boat.
We only have a small group — can we share the cost with another small group?
Sorry — no, we’re unable to split charters into groups as we can’t confirm that the other party will not cancel. The boats are sold and booked as private charters.
Can we take our own photos on the boat?
Yes, please do! We welcome you to take your own photos, videos or any other keepsakes. If you would like to share your photos with us, you can easily submit them here so others can see them.
What is your cancellation policy?
We do not take a deposit for booking, therefore we ask for as much notice as possible if you are unable to make your charter so we can re-book the spot. During the peak months (May — September), this means 72 hours before your charter day/time. For offseason months (September — December & January — April), 1 week is requested.
If your charter is cancelled due to inclement weather, you will not owe any money and we will do our best to re-book you during your stay. Please note that there are times of the year where short rain storms happen every afternoon in the Myrtle Beach area and rain in the forecast is often a short 20-minute cool-down! Cancelling due to weather/wind is at the discretion of Reel Action Fishing Charters. Your safety is our primary concern.
How many can we take on the boat?
Each of our boats can take a total of 5 people with a maximum of 4 adults per boat. If your party is larger, we can accommodate with two or three boats. Contact us for pricing and custom rates for large group charters.
Where do we meet for the charter?
Our location is: 2201 Little River Neck Road, North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Meet your Captain in the parking lot — we’ll walk you to the boats. Click here for a Google Map address.
Do you take credit cards?
No, we’re unable to take credit cards as you meet your Captain at the dock. Cash only.
Can the Captain clean any fish that we’re able to keep?
Yes, just tell your Captain and we’ll head back 20 minutes earlier to allow for the time to filet, clean and Ziploc bag your fresh fish. We can also refer you to a local seafood shop in Cherry Grove that will clean fish for $1~ per pound (often $5 – $10 for your catch).
Can we keep the fish we catch?
Many of the fish we catch are legal to keep & eat, however some species are highly regulated by the state of South Carolina to keep fishing healthy for generations to come. The majority of the Redfish (Red Drum) we catch are over the slot size and you cannot keep them. Likewise, many Black Sea Bass we catch at the reefs are too small to keep. All SCDNR regulations will be followed and we encourage you to CPR (catch, photo, release) unless you have a strong desire to eat any legal fish.
The best tasting fish we catch often: Flounder, Black Sea Bass, Black Drum, Redfish, Sea Trout, Tog.
Do I need a fishing license?
Nope, we have state licenses for all of our boats as charter Captains in both South Carolina and North Carolina. You do not need to purchase one if you’re fishing with us!
Are tips customary?
Yes, the Captain of your boat would love to earn a tip for his charter! Normal tips are 10-20% of the charter rate for your Captain’s high effort to put you in the best places to catch fish.
